Derol HAFAR
Marshalltown, IA
Derol has lived in Marshalltown since 1963.  He is married to Audrey and together they have 3 grown children, all of whom have been active in the Theatre over the years.  Derol was honored with not one, but two roles in the 1969 production that was part of the Grand Opening of the Martha Ellen Tye Playhouse.  He has appeared in over a dozen plays during his association with MCT and has served on the Board of Directors in various capacities, including president.  Derol's proudest theatrical achievement was when he received the "Martha Ellen Tye Award" for "Outstanding Performance by a Male in a Supporting Role" during the 1972-73 season.

Margaret HAPPE
Marshalltown, IA
Margaret is a lover of the arts, although she considers herself a newbie to the MCT stage.  The years since high school Speech and Drama classes helped bring her to the present, portraying the role of Edith in our 2007 winter production of JAKE'S WOMEN.  She has raised two children and nurtured countless others in her classrooms. Today, Margaret teaches at Lenihan Intermediate School and spends her down time reading, gardening, traveling, and enjoying her family and friends.

Ben HARRIS
Marshalltown, IA
Following in his brother Nate's theatrical footsteps, Ben made his MCT debut as one of the orphans in OLIVER!, our 2008 summer musical, although he has been on stage before in the Missoula Children's Theatre production of ROBIN HOOD.  He loves the theatre as well as performing, and when he's not playing with his three dogs, Ben enjoys swimming, dance, music, reading, art, and watching fireworks.

Jeff HARRIS
Marshalltown, IA
While living in Fairfield, Iowa, Jeff was first dragged into community theatre by Mary, his wife, and daughters JoAnne and Jill. Since moving to Marshalltown in 2005, he has built up his MCT resume with the roles of Major Metcalf in THE MOUSETRAP, Paul Becker in FOOTLIGHT FRENZY, and participating in An Evening of Improv - JUST ADD SPAM.  Jeff added the part of Burt Evans in the 2007 - 2008 season opener COCKTAILS WITH MIMI, and says he has enjoyed sharing the MCT stage with the great and talented thespians in town while exhibiting his "alter egos."  When not on stage, Jeff acts as Transit Manager for People Rides, visits the YMCA all too infrequently, rides along the local bike trails, and "tries to keep track of my girls."

JoAnne HARRIS

J
oAnne was delighted to be part of MCT for the 2006 Summer Musical, being our musical director for WORKING. Job well done!  As a graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead MN, JoAnne plans to teach choral music. She enjoys the music group U2, hanging out with her family, watching really bad Mary Kate and Ashley movies, and a good cup of coffee.

Katie HARRIS
Marshalltown, IA
COMPANY, our Summer Musical for 2007, was Katie's debut on the MCT stage, playing the part of Kathy, although she is right at home on the stage. Previous high school performances included portrayals of Nellie in SOUTH PACIFIC, Tzeitel in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, and Miranda in THE TEMPEST. She is currently a student at Simpson college, majoring in vocal music education.

Nate HARRIS
Marshalltown, IA
Nate was just eight years old in his first production at MCT, although he has spent a lot of time at the theatre with his mom, Susan Harris. Nate was very excited to be Sam (the Newsboy) in WORKING, and even though he was nervous, Mom hopes it is just the beginning!

Ross HARRIS
Marshalltown, IA
A resident of Marshalltown, Ross made his first-ever appearance in any play when he joined the cast of MCT's A FEW GOOD MEN, but says he's thrilled at the chance to perform — especially when he gets the chance to join his wife Susan onstage.  He has three children, Victoria, Nate and Ben, and says being with his family is his favorite activity. Ross is also an avid outdoorsman, enjoying a good game of golf, hunting or fishing.

Susan HARRIS - CAMPBELL
Marshalltown, IA
Susan has been involved with MCT since 2002 and performed regularly, both on stage and back stage.  Of the many roles she has filled here at MCT, portraying Sally Bowles in CABARET has been Susan's favorite to date. She is employed by Lowe's Flowers and has two wonderful boys.  Both of them have the theatre bug, too! "They are amazing guys," she said. "The theatre never ceases to amaze me. It's all so wonderful."

Zoe HARRIS
Marshalltown, IA
Although she made her debut on the MCT stage in 2008 as a chorus member in OLIVER!, Zoe said she has been acting most of her life, participating in various high school plays, as well as
productions of ROBIN HOOD, CINDERELLA, and OKLAHOMA! by the Missoula Children's Theatre.  Other activities Zoe enjoys include choir and band.

Ellen HEDUM
Marshalltown, IA
THE WOMEN (2003) was Ellen's first play anywhere, except for Christmas Programs at her church. She has sung solos at
her church  a couple of times.  Ellen and her friends made a movie.  She was born in 1989 and plays softball, basketball, track, & volleyball.  Her dream is to grow up to be an actress.  Ellen has two sisters and two wonderful parents, Mark and Brenda.

Stacy HEIL
Marshalltown, IA
Being a true veteran of the MCT stage, Stacy has appeared in numerous plays and musicals over the years, including ROMANTIC COMEDY, COCKTAILS WITH MIMI, and OLIVER! He recently added yet another performance to the list, that of Moises Kaufman in our 2009 summer docudrama, THE LARAMIE PROJECT.  Stacy likes being involved in the theatre and taking on challenging roles.  When not on our stage, he enjoys rock climbing, camping, singing, and life in general. "Live each day with a smile on your face and a song in your heart."

Lindsey HEINRICHS
Marshalltown, IA
Portraying Laura Wingfield, Lindsey made her MCT debut in THE GLASS MENAGERIE during the fall of 2008.  Prior to studying at Marshalltown Community College, she participated in the musicals FIDDLER ON THE ROOF and SOUTH PACIFIC.  Lindsey has done other smaller roles in high school productions which gave her an appreciation for the art. "I've always liked acting," she said.  "This was my first big play, so I was really pumped up for it."

Thomas R. HELMER
Marshalltown, IA
Thomas is a singer/songwriter, being part of the orchestra and playing guitar in MCT's 2006 Summer Musical, WORKING.  He not only fixes instruments, but also loves everything and everyone!  Thomas' favorite phrase is "Hey, man!" and he says, "Jesus loves you!"

Douglas HENSLEY
Marshalltown, IA
Doug has been in several plays at MCT (Four to be exact, including his most recent portrayal of Charley in DEATH OF A SALESMAN) and he keeps coming back for more.  “I have enjoyed them all.”  Doug has been amazed at how connected you get to your fellow actors, and DEATH OF A SALESMAN was no exception.  Doug says of acting, “It is a great confidence builder to be on stage and put on a play that people like.”  Doug attributes his success to his wife, Anita, “For her love and support.”

Megan HILDEBRANDT
LeGrand, IA
Megan is a graduate of East Marshall High School, where she performed in STATE FAIR, SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS, BIG, and SINGIN' IN THE RAIN.  She enrolled at Wartburg College after high school.  Megan made her MCT stage debut in the summer of 2004 with JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR.

Matt HINERFELD
Los Angeles, CA
Matt spent several seasons on the MCT stage.  He starred as Eugene Morris Jerome in our October, 1989 production of Neil Simon's BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS, and later reprised his role as Eugene in BROADWAY BOUND (October, 1990).  Matt was also seen in BABY (May, 1991), and COME BACK TO THE FIVE AND DIME JIMMY DEAN, JIMMY DEAN (August, 1991), as well as several MCT Galas.  Matt is a 1995 graduate of The University of Iowa Theatre Program, and went on to act in films, television, and theatre in Los Angeles, California for many years.  He has also had multiple comedic stints on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."  Matt is now an Associate Producer for Neopets.com (at MTV Networks) and resides in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.

Sarah HOBART
Marshalltown, IA
For her first MCT production, Sarah was excited to play Queen Aggravain in our 2010 summer musical, ONCE UPON A MATTRESS.  In her real life, she is the vocal music teacher at GMG High School, where she loves directing all their plays and musicals.

LaVern HOELSCHER
Marshalltown, IA
Musical productions have been the principal occasions for LaVern's participation at MCT, beginning with our first musical, SOUTH PACIFIC, and including CAROUSEL, MY FAIR LADY, and FIDDLER ON THE ROOF.  Most recently, our GALA TREASURES 2006 brought him to our stage, just as he has for dozens of previous GALA performances.  In addition to playing the role of Dr. Sloper in THE HEIRESS, LaVern has worked on a variety of sets, and served on our Board of Directors.  LaVern says he appreciates the opportunities that MCT has provided him.

Teresa HUTCHENS
Beaman, IA
Teresa Hutchens got involved in community theatre through her son Zach who has appeared in many MCT shows.  She has had theatre involvement with the Whistlestop Players in Conrad.  She says she spends most of her free time attending the many activities in which her four children are involved.  Teresa does find some free time for her hobbies which include reading, sewing, and walking.

Zach HUTCHENS
Beaman, IA
CABARET was Zach's second appearance on the MCT stage.  He also appeared in THE BOYFRIEND, produced and directed by Jeanne Ehn for BCLUW High School.   His latest appearance on the MCT stage was playing the disciple Peter in our 2004 summer musical JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. Zach is very active in chorus, swing choir, and vocal jazz.  His favorite things to do are sing, dance, and act.
